Our first golf initiation

Our first golf initiation July 7, 2018

I'm Evelyn, a strategist with a healthy dose of curiosity, always focused on getting to know more about topics that could be valuable during my daily routines. This is probably one of the most important qualities of an MDM Consultant and Functional Analyst. Due to my eagerness to discover more about different aspects of PIM and MDM, I have been able to help customers out of different vertical markets with implementations, improvements, analysis and more...

Every month all employees of our company come together at our headquarters in Hasselt to discuss the current developments of our projects. All team members share their newly gained knowledge and interesting progressions regarding their implementations, functional and business analysis. This is how YellowGround tries to keep everyone involved and up to date.

For example, Birgit and Frederik are currently working on a very large project with other Xplore Group competence centers, which means that they are often working remotely. To not let team members miss out on their newly acquired information, Birgit and Frederik need to present us the details of their case.

After the more formal part of our team event, it was time to have some fun. A golf initiation was arranged, only a few people had ever held a golf club before. This led to interesting scenario’s as some of us were not even capable of actually hitting the ball at first. The basics of golf were explained by a professional and although it looked very easy we started to appreciate the technicalities of the sport a lot more. But after a very clear demonstration and explanation of the trainer almost everyone was capable of performing a mediocre swing.

We often see the same evolution at our clients from the beginning to the end of the project. At first companies do not really comprehend the scale of a complete MDM implementation. But with proper training and a clear guidance during the discovery phase they keep on learning until at the end they are even capable of making small changes to the data model themselves.

Exhausted, thirsty and hungry we were ready to have fabulous three course dinner at the golf resort. Starting with a delicious appetizer and ending with a dessert that went straight to our hearts. What made this day even more special, was that our newest colleagues and future starters were also present. It was a great opportunity to get to know them in a more social setting and makes them feel right at home.
